Scripture
Job 3:25-26 (New International Version)
What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.
Consider
When Satan set out to test Job’s faith, he went straight for the jugular. He knew what Job feared, and he attacked him at his weakest point.
Satan often attacks us in our relationships, where we are most vulnerable. If you are experiencing a painful quarrel, don’t discount Satan’s role in the conflict. This enemy of God likes nothing better than to distract us from our fellowship with Christ and to lie to us about our situation. Doubt and despair are among his favorite ploys to convince us that our Father doesn’t care about us or is too distant to help us.
Consequently, we must stay alert and consider the possibility that all may not be as it seems in a relationship. We may be mistaken in our assumptions, or perhaps we are being lied to. Ask God to show you what is true and reliable information.
Without God to fight for us, we are helpless to defeat this tireless and clever adversary who is bent on our destruction.
Pray
FATHER, I lift up to You a relationship that has been especially troublesome for me. Help me to identify the lies that have perpetuated my misery—wrong assumptions, faulty or incomplete information, or perhaps my own false pride and unwillingness to admit my role in the conflict. I ask you to break Satan’s grip on this relationship. Give me wisdom to discern what is true, and release my heart to the care and healing of your Spirit.
